My Background

My name is Sara Hawkes and I originally come from Blackpool but now live in Peterborough UK.  I have built a reputation locally for my Jazz and Blues singing.

Having brought up my two children In Peterborough I am now returning to performing and began by singing at open mics. and Jazz Jams in the local area. With my guitarist we have recently performed at the Help for Heroes Festival in Kings Cliffe and The Oundle Fringe and were very well received. I have also been engaged for private functions as a soloist at various venues. My latest recording "Off the Cuff" gives a taste of my repertoire recorded live in a church in Sutton with local professional musicians. It was conceived as a spontaneous performance to give the feeling of being at a Jazz Club and i think it captures some of that.

I previously sang classical repertoire in Opera, Art Song and Cabaret and continue to train with my teacher who is a senior tutor at the Royal Northern College of Music. I am always looking to improve my performance skills and musicianship and recently returned form a Jazz Course with Loire Music run by top international Jazz Artists and teachers.

Future performances include a Gala Dinner for Action Medical Research organised with Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), a concert for raising funds for a special trip to Mongolia in Elton, and at Clare Cottage in Helpston,  Jazz at the Cottage this December 2015 a concert of jazz standards with a Christmas theme with pianist Ivan Garford.
